logoGoing organic in Delhi is so much easier than it used to be. There’s variety, plenty of places to pick from and so many of them home deliver. My organic farming days are over – I no longer have the farm where I grew vegetables and fruit chemical-free. But I can still access organic produce thanks to Delhi’s booming interest in all things organic that has ensured both a market and a supply.

There’s an organic event this weekend that you may enjoy

mailer sat

To celebrate World Environment Day (5th June) there’s a Farmer’s Hub at Dastkar. This Saturday they’re hosting Laksh foundation, Viva Botanica and farmers from Haryana and Dhyaan Ashram

Items ranging from organic vegetables, dairy products, skin care, preserves, indoor plants and clothes made by women’s co-operative will be available for sale.

You don’t have to wait for the Farmer’s Market though.

I SAY ORGANIC has made life so easy, healthy and organic. Call them at 011-41087447 to order because they home deliver.

And that’s not all – they also have dals, whole wheat atta and organic wild honey. A range of organic spices is planned.

I wrote about them last year, waxing lyrical about their delivery and if you click on the link you too will be delighted at the freshness of the vegetables.

Right now they offer

Celery, avocado, rocket, yellow zucchini, broccoli, cherry tomato fresh herbs,

You can also order non exotic vegetables like spinach, French beans, pumpkin, bhindi or brinjal.

In fruit, at the moment there is pomegranate, plum, bael, chikoo, and Alphonso mangoes – mmmm.

All organic produce in Delhi is seasonal as it’s grown locally. You won’t get mangoes in January because they aren’t transported from across the globe. I’m so happy that the organic produce I buy hasn’t added to the environmental footprint, having been transported from afar. If you want winter organic vegetables, you’ll have to wait for the winter.

The pioneers in organic produce and sustainable farming are Navdanya ( Nine seeds – to show their intention to protect biological and cultural diversity). Their collection of cereals, various kinds of rice and dals are legendary. They have three stores making it easy to access the products.

The good thing about Dubden Green

is their collection of bio liquid and eco detergent’s, supplements and personal care products which the other places don’t stock. If you’re living the green life you want everything to be sustainable, not just your vegetables. Soaps are not the only items you’ll find there – they have food grains aplenty.

Although The Altitude Storealso offers soaps and detergents under their odds and ends section. They also have essential oils such as peppermint patchouli amongst others and AND, hold your breath, dog treats.
