Can you tackle Diabetes with yoga?

As an ardent believer in yoga – I don’t see why you wouldn’t ? If you’re already at the stage where you need insulin, please continue to take your insulin, and follow dietary recommendations. You can also try yoga therapy, keeping a close watch on your body to see how it responds to various asanas.

Yoga helps stabilize metabolism – absorption, digestion and elimination are regulated through it so it cannot but have a beneficial effect. It also helps wonderfully with the additional problems of diabetes – such as high blood pressure, or anaemia. Because each diabetic sufferer’s problems are unique, it’s important to have a personalized exercise plan after proper assessment by a certified yoga professional. The asanas should be done under supervision so that adjustments can be made to suit each yoga practitioner and to adapt the asanas as you progress.

Most of the asanas for Diabetes require a certain degree of flexibility and strength so do not attempt these asanas alone unless you already have some knowledge of yoga.
